Plant Location Notes Ca. 3-3.5 km. S. E. of Santa Elena and 2 km. east of Monteverde. Cordillera de Tilaran. Over-grown pasturelands surrounded by virgin cloud forests at an elev. of 1500-1600 m.
Plant Description Notes Compactly branched shrubs 1-1.5 m. tall. Foliage deep green above and yellowish-green below. Petals very pale pink. Antepetalous anthers deep red. appendages white basally but yellow terminally. Remaining anthers and appendages yellow. Growing with M. floribundum in overgrown pastures but most abundant in partially shaded areas adjacent to forested areas. Commonly becoming established on rotting logs and tree stumps.
