Plant Location Notes Sierra de Baoruco, Monteada Nueva, near Polo, 1400-1425 m alt. Much disturbed could forest, along road to silica mine; with Miconia subcompressa, M. tertrastoma, Meriania involucrata, Heterotrichum umbellatum.
Plant Description Notes Very common shrub to 2 m tall; young inflorescences with bright red bracts; flowers with pinkish reflexed petals, anthers white; leaves bullate.
