Plant Location Notes Ca. 3-3.5 km SE of Santa Elena and 2-3 km E of Monteverde on the Peñas Blancas Trail. Cordillera de Tilaran. Disturbed sites along secondary vegetation in open areas surrounded by cloud forests. Elevation about 1500-1540 m.
Plant Description Notes Tree to 15 ft. tall. Leaf margins strongly revolute toward base with conspicuous small formicarial pouch-like excrescence at petiole laminar jct. on adaxial side. Flowers pendant; petals greenish and suffused with purplish but rosy-pink basally. Filaments and style greenish. Another deep purple-black.
