Plant Location Notes Along road between Fort Sherman and Gatun Lock, 5 km from lock. Elevation 10 feet; in drainage ditch along roadside, in standing water (after storm).
Plant Description Notes Plant 6-7 m; musoid. Leaves: petiole to 173 cm; blade to 202 x 39 cm; green, light green midrib above; dull green, yellow-green midrib below. Inflorescence pendulous to nodding, 69 cm long. Peduncle red puberulous; rachis flexuose, red at basal bracts becoming yellow towards apical bracts. Branch bract rotate, 9 cm long; margins straight; pink to orange, glabrous to puberulous inside; red glabrous outside. Floral bract pale yellow; pink along margin. Flowers: free sepal below; perianth dark yellow, paler basally, glabrous, puberulous along sepal margins; ovary white, pale lavendar at apex, glabrous; pedicel white, reddish near ovary.
