Plant Location Notes Near Honiara reservoir, Rone Creek, growing on steep limestone slopes in stream ravines in small scattered clumps.
Plant Description Notes Musa-like; 3 m tall; petiole 85 cm long, blade 135 cm long, 35 cm wide, upper surface dark green, lower surface green, glabrous; inflorescence erect, 30 cm long; peduncle yellow green; rachis yellow green; cincinnal bracts distichous, margins revolute, inside light green with green striations, glabrous, outside green with light green near rachis, glabrous; floral bracts white; perianth 5.2 cm long, white basally becoming light green apically, glabrous; ovary lemon yellow, glabrous; pedicel white; fruit cherry red, glabrous.

Plant Location Notes Between Rabaul and Keravat, 30 km from Rabaul, 4 km up side road; elev. 100 ft.; growing in small patch of primary forest along roadside.
Plant Description Notes Musoid; overall height 6-7 meters; petiole to 123 cm, blade 242 x 48 cm., upper surface dark green, midrib green, lower surface dull green, midrib bright green with yellow midstripe. Inflorescence erect; peduncle light green, puberulous; rachis straight green-yellow reddish near base of bract; branch bracts distichous, margins straight to involute at base, inner color whitish green, glabrous, outer color green with red basally near rachis. Floral bract white with pink at base; free sepal above; perianth light green, glabrous; ovary greenish-yellow, glabrous; pedicel white. Fruits large, bright cherry-red, glabrous, pulp pale orange-yellow. Flowers apparently opening in the evening.
